Googling to the Max: Getting the Most from Google

During this session, participants will learn advanced tips for using Google in an educational setting; topics such as synonym searching, using country codes, searching by file type, searching within the URL, and searching specific domains will be explored. Participants will also learn how to use Google Sites to create resource pages for curriculum units. If time permits, a short overview of Google Books and Google Scholar will be provided. This is a hands-on workshop and participants are asked to bring a device (laptop, tablet, phone) to practice on during the session.
Becky is a Librarian/Media Specialist who is currently working toward her Master’s degree in Digital Education Leadership. Becky’s first Master’s degree in Library and Informational Science was an online program that provided her with the opportunity to experience online learning from a student perspective. In her role as librarian, Becky collaborates with faculty to integrate 21st century learning skills into what the students are already learning in the classroom. She has worked to digitize the library's resources by developing a library website, blog and social networking presence.
