Teaching Parasha with iPads and Padlet
Rabbi Yehuda Rapoport
In this session, we will demonstrate how to use simple presentation apps on the iPad such as StopMotion and Adobe Voice to help teachers face the many challenges of teaching the parasha. These technologies are easy for students to learn and enable students to move from thought to expression with very little training. Teachers are able to assess students’ comprehension of the material and students are able to work on multiple levels: ranging from comprehension to synthesis. We will also demonstrate how to use Padlet, a web-based application that enables students to share what they have created on their iPads. Multiple parties are able to participate simultaneously on one page.
Rabbi Yehuda Rapoport received rabbinic ordination from Yeshiva B’nei Torah in New York in 2004. He has a BS in Computer Science from Touro College and an MA in Psychology from Seattle University—he is also a practicing psychotherapist. This year will be his fourteenth year teaching and his eighth year at the Seattle Hebrew Academy. He teaches 3rd and 4th grade Judaics and is the Judaic Studies Curriculum Director. He was a recipient of the Grinspoon-Steinhardt Award for Excellence in Jewish Education in 2013.
